Director Story

Maël grandit entre Plougonvelin dans le Finistère et le sud Seine et Marne jusqu’à ses 18 ans. Il intègre l’ESRA Paris en 2016. Il y fait ses premiers pas comme monteur et très vite s’intéresse à la réalisation. Lors de sa dernière année, il part au Tibet pour tourner et monter seul un documentaire, Yushu Blossom. En 2020, il fait partie des dix réalisteur·ices sélectionné·es par l’appel à scénario de CANAL+ avec son film Kenavo. En 2023, Maël suit pendant six mois un atelier d’écriture où il y développe son premier long-métrage, ainsi que mâle de mer, son nouveau court-métrage.

Maël grew up between Plougonvelin in Finistère and southern Seine et Marne until he was 18. He joined ESRA Paris in 2016. There, he took his first steps as an editor and quickly became interested in directing. During his final year, he went to Tibet to shoot and edit a documentary, Yushu Blossom, on his own. In 2020, he was one of ten directors selected by the CANAL+ call for scripts with his film Kenavo. In 2023, Maël attended a six-month writing workshop where he developed his first feature film, as well as boysick, his new short film.
