Frank Ternier

Director Story

Frank Ternier est un réalisateur, auteur, monteur et graphiste français autodidacte, connu pour son approche artistique mêlant les genres et les médias. Il commence sa carrière avec la fondation de l’association L’Astronef à Tours en 1999, où il s’entoure d’artistes et de techniciens de divers horizons. En 2010, il réalise son premier court métrage d’animation, Le di@ble en bouche, suivi en 2014 par 8 balles, un film marquant sur la quête d’un père après un drame familial, qui est sélectionné à la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs à Cannes et remarqué dans plus de 100 festivals à l’international.

Membre fondateur du collectif Ideal Crash, Frank multiplie les projets mêlant fiction et expérimentation, notamment avec son film Riot soutenu par Arte, qui aborde la colère sociale en intégrant danse et collage et attire l’attention de festivals comme l’Ottawa International Film Festival et Interfilm à Berlin. Il poursuit aujourd’hui avec L’Étrange humeur adolescente, un court-métrage produit par Ikki Films et soutenu par Arte également, qui explore le monde intérieur d’un adolescent en quête de justice.

Frank Ternier is a self-taught French film director, author, editor and graphic designer, known for his artistic approach blending genres and media. He began his career by founding L’Astronef association in Tours in 1999, where he surrounded himself with artists and technicians from diverse backgrounds. In 2010, he directed his first animated shortfilm, Le di@ble en bouche, followed in 2014 by 8 balles, a striking film about a father’s quest after a family tragedy, which was selected at the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and received acclaim in over 100 festivals worldwide.

A founding member of the Ideal Crash collective, Frank has multiplied projects mixing fiction and experimentation, notably with his film Riot, supported by Arte, tackling social anger by integrating dance and collage, which attracted festivals’ attention such as the Ottawa International Film Festival and Interfilm in Berlin. Today he continues with Strange Teen Spirit, a shortfilm produced by Ikki Films and supported by Arte too, which explores the inner world of a teenager in search of justice.
