Julie Lerat-Gersant est née à Caen en 1983.
Après des études en école supérieure de théâtre, elle cofonde en 2006 La Piccola Familia avec Thomas Jolly. Depuis, elle travaille au théâtre en tant qu’actrice et dramaturge.
En 2022, elle réalise son premier long-métrage Petites, produit par Sophie Révil et Denis Carot (Escazal Films) et distribué par Haut et Court. Le film est sélectionné au 75ème Festival International de Locarno dans la section Cinéastes du Présent. Il reçoit le Prix de la presse indépendante et une mention spéciale prix des jeunes à Locarno, ainsi que le prix des jeunes à Tübingen. Il sort en salle en février 2023.
En 2023, son premier roman jeunesse Hop, hop, hop l’amour est édité chez Scrinéo.
En 2025, elle s’apprête à mettre en scène sa première pièce au théâtre, 1729 secondes (création début 2026).

After studying at drama school, she co-founded La Piccola Familia with Thomas Jolly in 2006. Since then, she has worked in theater as an actress and playwright.
In 2022, she directed her first feature film, Petites, produced by Sophie Révil and Denis Carot (Escazal Films) and distributed by Haut et Court. The film was selected for the 75th Locarno International Film Festival in the Cinéastes du Présent section. It received the Independent Press Award and a special mention in the Youth Award at Locarno, as well as the Youth Award at Tübingen. It was released in theaters in February 2023.
In 2023, her first young adult novel, Hop, hop, hop l’amour, was published by Scrinéo.
In 2025, she is preparing to direct her first play, 1729 secondes (premiering in early 2026).
