Director Story

Après avoir terminé ses études de sociologie à l’université de Crète en Grèce, Stavros Petropoulos a obtenu une maîtrise en médias et communications au Goldsmiths College de l’université de Londres, au Royaume-Uni, en 2008. Depuis son retour en Grèce, Stavros vit et travaille à Athènes en tant que réalisateur et producteur d’un large éventail d’œuvres audiovisuelles. En 2013, il a cofondé Alaska Films. Ses documentaires Dancing To Connect (2014), I Am A Dancer (2016),  Homes (2018) et Microbiom (2021) ont été projetés dans de nombreux festivals de cinéma, notamment CPH:DOX, le Sarajevo Film Festival et le Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.

 

After completing his undergraduate studies in Sociology at the University of Crete in Rethymno, Greece, Stavros Petropoulos completed his MA in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths College of the University of London in the U.K in 2008. Since returning to Greece, Stavros has lived and worked in Athens as a director and producer of a wide range of audiovisual works. In 2013, he co-founded “Alaska Films”, a production company specialising in video
productions within the arts & advertising industries. His documentaries “Dancing to Connect” (2014), “I am a dancer” (2016), “Homes” (2018) and “Microbiome” (2021) have been screened at multiple film festivals including CPH: DOX, Sarajevo Film Festival and Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. His latest film “Microbiome” won the Grand Prix award at FeKK – Ljubljana Short Film Festival 2022 and the Fisher audience award at the 10th Chania Film Festival.
