Director Story

Ahmed a commencé son parcours cinématographique en tant qu’assistant réalisateur sur « Clash », qui a été présenté à Cannes dans la catégorie « Un certain regard ». Il a ensuite cofondé une école de cinéma appelée Cima. Grâce à Cima, il a organisé des ateliers avec les plus grands talents de l’industrie cinématographique égyptienne, notamment Yousry Nasrallah, Dawood Abdel Sayed, Abdel Salam Mousa et Said Sheemi. Ahmed a de nombreuses séries télévisées et films en développement, comme le scénario du long métrage « The Legend of Zeinab and Noah » (La légende de Zeinab et Noé). Le scénario a obtenu une bourse de Film Independent et a également remporté cinq prix au Festival du film du Caire. Ahmed a également écrit l’histoire de « Hajjan », le long métrage saoudien qui a été projeté aux festivals du film de Toronto et de la mer Rouge. Il écrit également un long métrage pour Amjad Abu Al Ala, le producteur de « Goodbye Julia », le premier film soudanais projeté à Cannes. Ahmed travaille également à l’écriture d’un long métrage pour le célèbre réalisateur Khairy Bishara.

Ahmed a travaillé pendant trois ans comme développeur de scénarios et producteur de développement à la Film Clinic de Mohamed Hefzy, et il travaille désormais comme développeur et script doctor indépendant, parallèlement à ses projets d’écriture. Il a récemment développé « Farawla », l’émission de Nelly Karim sur le Ramadan, et « High School Girls », une émission saoudienne produite par la chaîne MBC.

Ahmed vient de terminer le tournage de son premier court-métrage en tant que réalisateur. Le film est distribué par Hefzy par l’intermédiaire de Film Clinic.

 

Ahmed started his filmmaking journey as an assistant director on “Clash” which played in Un certain Regard at Cannes. He then co-founded a film school called Cima. Through Cima, he organized workshops with the top talents in the Egyptian film industry including Yousry Nasrallah, Dawood Abdel Sayed, Abdel Salam Mousa, and Said Sheemi. Ahmed has many TV series and films in development such as a feature film screenplay “The Legend of Zeinab and Noah.” The script won a grant from Film Independent and also won five awards at the Cairo Film Festival. Ahmed also wrote the story for “Hajjan,” the Saudi feature film that screened at Toronto and Red Sea Film Festivals. He’s also writing a feature film for Amjad Abu Al Ala, the producer of “Goodbye Julia,” the first Sudanese film to screen at Cannes. Another project Ahmed is writing is a feature film for the renowned director Khairy Bishara.

 

Ahmed worked for three years as a script developer and a development producer with Mohamed Hefzy’s Film Clinic and he now works as a freelance developer and script doctor along with his writing projects. He recently developed “Farawla,” Nelly Karim’s Ramadan show and “High School Girls,” an MBC produced Saudi Arabian show.

 

Ahmed just completed shooting his first short film as a director. The film is being distributed by Hefzy through Film Clinic.
