Diplômé de la Comédie de Saint-Etienne puis comédien au théâtre, Florent Gouëlou intègre en 2013 le département réalisation de La Fémis. Pour son film de fin d’études, Un homme mon fils, dans lequel il joue, il crée son alter ego drag, Javel Habibi, et remporte le prix d’interprétation au Festival international du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand en 2018.
Suivront trois courts métrages multi récompensés : Beauty Boys en 2019, Premier Amour en 2020 et Où vont les sons en 2021.
En 2022, son premier long métrage de fiction, Trois Nuits par semaine, fait l’ouverture de la Semaine de la Critique de la Mostra de Venise et est distribué en salles par Pyramide.
Parallèlement à son activité de réalisateur, depuis six ans, Florent Gouëlou performe sous les traits de Javel Habibi. On peut retrouver Javel chaque mois sur la scène de la Flèche d’Or, où elle anime ses soirées drag et cinéma. Son deuxième long métrage documentaire, Habibi, chanson pour mes ami·e·s, fait le portrait des artistes de la troupe et de ce lieu qui les accueille depuis 3 ans.
Nous les prochains est son quatrième court métrage et fait écho à son film de fin d’études Un homme mon fils.

Graduating from the Comédie de Saint-Étienne and later becoming an actor in theater, Florent Gouëlou joined the directing department at La Fémis in 2013. For his graduation film, Un homme mon fils, in which he also stars, he creates his drag alter ego, Javel Habibi, and won the Best Actor Award at the 2018 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.This was followed by three award-winning short films: Beauty Boys in 2019, Premier Amour in 2020, and Où vont les sons in 2021.In 2022, his first feature film, Trois Nuits par semaine, opened the Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival and was distributed in theaters by Pyramide.Alongside his directing career, for the past six years, Florent Gouëlou has been performing as Javel Habibi. Javel can be seen every month on the stage at La Flèche d’Or, where she hosts her drag and cinema nights.
