Cinéaste, Téhéran, 1983

Mohamad Kamal Alavi est un réalisateur et peintre iranien, ayant étudié le théâtre à l’Université des Arts et de l’Architecture de Téhéran et s’étant formé à l’Institut des jeunes cinéastes. Membre de l’Association de la Maison du Théâtre Iranien et de l’Association Iranienne du Court Métrage (ISFA), Alavi a réalisé plusieurs courts métrages, dont Half, The Single Horn, Silence Again, The Flat Tire et Puffer Fish. Ses films ont été projetés dans des festivals internationaux tels que le 53ème Giffoni Film Festival, le 61ème Golden Knight Malta Festival, le New York Asian Film Festival, le 40ème Asolo Art Film Festival, le 40ème Tous Courts, le 37ème Osnabrück FilmFest et le 40ème BÜFF International Film Festival, où son travail a été nominé pour des prix.

En plus de la réalisation, Alavi s’est impliqué dans le cinéma indépendant iranien en tant qu’acteur, directeur de production et premier assistant réalisateur. Il a collaboré sur des projets tels que The Seed of the Sacred Fig de Mohammad Rasoulof, And me, I’m Dancing Too de Mohammad Valizadegan, Disappearance d’Ali Asgari, Delay d’Ali Asgari et Farnoosh Samadi, ainsi que Yahya Didn’t Keep Quiet de Kaveh Ebrahim Pour.

Engagé pour la liberté créative et contre la censure, le travail d’Alavi reflète son dévouement à explorer les récits humains malgré les limitations. À travers ses films et ses peintures, il continue à traiter des thèmes sociaux, ajoutant sa voix à la communauté artistique iranienne.

Mohamad Kamal Alavi is an Iranian filmmaker and painter, with a background in theater from the University of Arts and Architecture in Tehran and further training at the Young Filmmakers Institute. A member of the Iranian Theatre House Association and the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA), Alavi has directed several short films, including Half, The Single Horn, Silence Again, The Flat Tire, and Puffer Fish. These films have been screened at international film festivals, such as the 53^rd Giffoni Film Festival, 61^st Golden Knight Malta Festival, New York Asian Film Festival, 40^th Asolo Art Film Festival, 40^th Tous Courts, 37^th Osnabrück FilmFest, 40^th BÜFF International Film Festival where his work has been nominated for awards.
