Après un passage à l’I.A.D, Yohann Kouam part vivre à Berlin, Barcelone et Séville. Ces expériences lui inspirent des récits souvent polyglottes, et viennent enrichir son regard sur la banlieue, territoire où il a grandi et auquel il cherche à conférer un nouvel imaginaire. Après 4 court-métrages, il ressent le besoin de bousculer complètement sa pratique du cinéma. « Après l’aurore » est le premier projet né de cette remise en question artistique.

After a stint at the I.A.D, Yohann Kouam moved to Berlin, Barcelona and Seville. These experiences inspired him to write stories that are often multilingual and enriched his view of the suburbs, the area where he grew up and to which he seeks to give a new imagination. After four short films, he felt the need to completely shake up his approach to filmmaking. ‘Après l’aurore’ is the first project to emerge from this artistic re-evaluation.
