Director Story

Chiara Malta est née à Rome et vit à Paris depuis 2002. Elle a réalisé plusieurs courts-métrages primés dans de nombreux festivals internationaux. On peut noter « L’Isle », « J’attends une femme » et « L’Amour à trois », diffusé sur France 2.
Après le long-métrage documentaire « Armando et la politique » pour la Lucarne (Arte/ZDF) , montré en ouverture de la section ‘Lo stato delle cose’ au festival de Turin, elle devient pensionnaire de la Villa Médicis. Avec les courts-métrages « Les Yeux du Renard », « L’Existence selon Gabriel » et « Histoire de Stefano », elle entame une réflexion sur l’enfance, teintée de magie réaliste et de divinités païennes. Son premier long-métrage, « Simple Women », avec Jasmine Trinca et Elina Lowensohn, a été présenté en ouverture de la section Discovery du Festival de Toronto en 2019. Depuis elle termine un long-métrage d’animation « Linda veut du poulet », réalisé avec Sébastien Laudenbach, dont la date de sortie est prévue fin 2023. Elle prépare actuellement son prochain long-métrage, « Avec les pires intentions », adaptation éponyme du roman de Alessandro Piperno. Parallèlement elle réalise régulièrement des épisodes pour la série française « Un si grand soleil » (France tv) et prépare la première saison d’une série produite par Groenlandia et Fidelio en Italie.

Chiara Malta was born in Rome and has lived in Paris since 2002. She has directed several award-winning short films at numerous international festivals. We can note “L’Isle”, “J’attends une femme” and “L’Amour à trois”, broadcast on France 2.
After the documentary feature “Armando and politics” for the Lucarne (Arte/ZDF), shown at the opening of the “Lo stato delle cose” section at the Turin festival, she became a resident of the Villa Medici. With the short films “The Eyes of the Fox”, “Existence according to Gabriel” and “Story of Stefano”, she begins a reflection on childhood, tinged with realistic magic and pagan deities. Her first feature film, “Simple Women”, with Jasmine Trinca and Elina Lowensohn, opened the Discovery section of the Toronto Film Festival in 2019. Since then she has completed an animated feature film “Linda Wants Chicken”. , directed with Sébastien Laudenbach, whose release date is scheduled for the end of 2023. She is currently preparing her next feature film, “With the worst intentions”, an eponymous adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Piperno. At the same time, she regularly directs episodes for the French series “Un si grand soleil” (France tv) and prepares the first season of a series produced by Groenlandia and Fidelio in Italy.
