Director Story
Clémentine Carrié, est née en 1991 dans le Lot. Après une licence de philosophie, elle sort diplômée de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Audio-Visuel (l’ENSAV), de Toulouse, en spécialité “Image”, en 2015.
En 2017, prolongeant ses études par un Diplôme en Création Audio-visuelle en “Réalisation” (DURCA à l’ENSAV), elle réalise un moyen-métrage pour La Cinémathèque de Toulouse & L’Institut Jean Vigo. Composé de films d’archives amateurs des années dix aux années quatre-vingt, Filmer les Pyrénées (52min), réinterprète la vie quotidienne dans ces montagnes. (Sélectionné au Festival des Créations Télévisuelles de Luchon en 2017, au Festival CinéMed en 2018).
Intriguée par l’enfance et par les images qu’il nous en reste adulte, son film de fin d’études, La peau du désert (23min), raconte l’histoire d’un jeune couple qui, attendant un enfant voit un événement étrange survenir.
Elle réalise en 2018, Gronde Marmaille, son premier court-métrage de fiction, produit par Duno Films, retraçant un souvenir imaginaire : alors que ses parents font encore l’amour dans leur caravane, Boubou, 8 ans, décide de trafiquer avec l’orage.
Clémentine Carrié was born in 1991. After a degree in philosophy, she graduated in 2015 from the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Audiovisual (ENSAV) in Toulouse with the Image specialty. She continued her studies with a diploma in Audiovisual Creation in Directing (DURCA at ENSAV).
In 2017, she directed a medium-length film for the Film Library of Toulouse and The Jean Vigo Institute. Composed of amateur archive films from the 1910’s to the 1980’s, Filmer les Pyrénées (52min) reinterprets everyday life in these mountains. (Selected at the Luchon Festival of Television Creation in 2017, at the CinéMed Festival in 2018).
Interested in childhood and in our memories of it, her graduation film The Skin of the Desert (23min) tells the story of a young couple who sees a strange event happening while they are waiting for the birth of their child.
In 2018, she directed Rain Rain Run Away (14min40), her first short fiction film produced by Duno Films. While her parents make love in their caravan, Boubou, 8 years, decides to run away and tamper with the storm.
Clémentine deepened her relationship to childhood in two photographic series: One weekend a month and While they slept. She received for them the Favorite prize at the 2016 Manifesto Festival.
During her studies, she has discovered silver photography and improved her taste for image. After the ENSAV, she likes projets dealing with both photography and cinema.
As the videographer of the 1 + 2 Photography Residency in 2017, she questioned the link between cinematographic narration and still image. She created Les jours, Cahiers photographiques (26mm), a video notebook which highlights the day after day creative work of three photographers.
At the end of 2018, she is a member of a collective residence in Guéthary, in the Basque Country. There she led a work on denial with photographs and sound, which was exhibited at the Espace du Chapeau Rouge (Toulouse) in January 2019. Scale of the sea occurs in 1936 with Paula, an alcoholic woman, who does not – can not – announce to her friends that the Spanish war has just broken out.
