Simon Panay

Director Story

Né en 1993, Simon Panay a réalisé quatre court-métrages documentaires en Afrique de l’Ouest. Il a reçu en 2014 le Prix du Jeune talent de l’année de l’ARP et en 2018 la Bourse Documentaire de la Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère. Son court-métrage “Ici, Personne ne Meurt”, tourné dans une mine illégale du Bénin, a été projeté dans 71 pays et a remporté 133 prix en festivals. Il continue à explorer le monde des mines d’or avec « Si tu es un homme » son premier long-métrage documentaire sorti en salles en 2023 et désormais en fiction avec « L’Enfant à la Peau Blanche » en 2024.

Born in 1993, Simon Panay has made four short documentaries in West Africa. In 2014 he received the ARP Young Talent of the Year Award and in 2018 the Documentary Grant from the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation. His short film “Nobody dies here”, shot in an illegal mine in Benin, has been screened in 71 countries and won 133 awards. He continues to explore the world of gold mining with “If You Are a Man” his first documentary feature film released in theaters in 2023, and now in fiction with “The Boy With White Skin” in 2024.
